May’s Musings

1 05 2012

Oral Fixation is one of our top ten events to check out in the month of May.  The ever-changing story-telling event continues to jump to fun new topics that sprout bold tales.  Click thru for our other May musings.

Loyd and all his scary friends have once again are prepped to take over Irving.  One day Irving’s hills will open up and all these folks will be engulfed into the pits of hell, until then you can’t beat this weekend’s awesome festival of fright!  Texas Frightmare Weekend!

The fine folks over at the Winspear have that wild Green Day Broadway play ready to kick off on May 8th!  Speaking of good times over at the Winspear (well at Annette Strauss Square at least).

May 10 – Americana/Blues: Chris Johnson of Telegraph Canyon w/ Ryan Thomas Becker.

Greatness returns to Dallas on Wed May 16 – Doors: 7:00 PM! This show is at South Side Music Hall.

We’ll have a special Mother’s Day post, but if you’re looking for something to take your ol’ mamma to, then you can always go to the Angelika Dallas.

The Kid With A Bike is a tale of a boy being adopted by a young women and the struggles that ensue.  The film will leave you with so many talking points and curious ideas about the amazing Dardenne brothers.  Angelika Dallas and Plano have some really good films like Bully, Monsieur Lazhar and the great documentary Marley.  Take your mom to a good film, she’ll enjoy it more then the Avengers.  Well unless she’s into that sorta thing, then maybe you should wait to celebrate Mother’s Day a weekend later!!!

Stan Lee, Patrick Stewart, Val Kilmer, Adam West, your mother (read above before trying to pick a fight with me) and many more folks at this year’s DCC!

The lovely music of Madeleine Peyroux, at the Wyly Theater, is here on  May 24, 2012.

Dick Van Dyke & The Vantastix take over the Winspear Opera House on May 29th.

To keep on our MM theme we thought it would be perfect to end May’s Musings with Mamma Mia at the DSM at Music Hall at Fair Park.  Seeya in June.
