9 11 2011

Today the 5th annual Lone Star International Film Festival kicks off in Fort Worth, Tx.  The festival in its short time has become a major figure in the festival circuit and further established DFW as one of the hottest places to showcase your film.  Click thru for our video interview with Writer/Director Cameron Bruce Nelson who’s film In Kind is an official selection at this year’s festival!

In Kind is part Short program 2 and will screen on Saturday November 12th at 11:15am at AMC Palace 9, Theater 5.

Here is our chat with Writer/Director Cameron Nelson.

The festival kicks off tonight, Wednesday November 9th with Alexander Payne‘s newest film The Descendants.  Instead of giving a full preview, I just wanted to share 3 key films, panels and events you might wanna check out.

3.  LSIFF Distribution Forum Panel Discussion – Friday, November 11th at 4:30pm  at Texas Christian University College of Communications in room 164 of the Moudy South building.

This forum brings together a slew of well respected and thought provoking industry insiders.  From Editor-in-Chief of IndieWIRE Dana Harris to Independent Film Producer Ted Hope the panel for this year’s discussion is a MUST SEE!

2.  Elizabeth Avellan Presents Blacktino – Thursday, November 10th at 7pm at AMC Palace 9, Theater 5.

2011 LSIFF Commitment to Texas Award recipient Producer Elizbeth Avellan  will be in attendance and conduct a post-film Q & A.

The Lone Star International Film Festival (LSIFF) Commitment to Texas Award is bestowed each year upon an individual that has demonstrated extraordinary dedication to supporting and fostering the film industry in Texas. This year the festival is thrilled to announce that celebrated producer Elizabeth Avellan has agreed to accept the award.”

More info about Mrs. Avellan as well as information about this year’s Stephen Bruton Award recipient Willie Nelson, here.

1. Closing Night Concert Featuring Telegraph Canyon with the Orbans and Seryn – 8pm Saturday, November 12th at 8.0 Restaurant and Bar.

8.0 is nestled in nicely at Sundance Square and the concert is a guaranteed fun evening!  Its also a wonderful way to get to know some of DFW’s more talented bands.  Seryn is easily one of the hottest (and i’m talking NATIONALLY!) bands around, Big props to those lovable Denton-ians.  The two Fort Worth bands are both examples of the amazing writing, singing and playing coming from Cowtown!  Its going to be a hell of an evening under stars in Fort Worth.

I hope to see ya out and about for LSIFF 2011.  Check back on PSD with more interviews, red carpet fun, and of course a recap of all that PSD can schedule into our days and nights of the 5 days of festival greatness in ol’ Funky Fort Worth.  Willie’s coming folks!!!!!
