SXSW Bound with Director Daniel Stessen part 2

10 03 2011

Bold and delightful sum up Daniel quite well.  He’s got a hell of an eye for nature and isn’t afraid of testing taboos.  Lets finish off our discussion with Director Daniel Stessen.

Daniel is readying himself for his return to SXSW and he was kind enough to talk about his first experience in Austin.

But actually Daniel has already fallen in love with our Capital.

O Austin.

Daniel has other connections to Austin that really showcase his talent.

Daniel’s had a unique ability to jump from indie fun atmosphere after indie fun atmosphere with his travels.

Daniel talked about the rationale for using a split screen in his awesome SKIN THIN Music Video of Ben Harper and the Relentless 7.  He specifically talked about his tremendous editor.

Here is SKIN THIN which has its world premiere at SXSW tomorrow evening.

Here is the awesome story of what Ben Harper’s reaction was to seeing the video and also the really cool back story to Skin Thin.

The reason why it seems so surreal I think is because the story itself is based on Daniel’s real friends and family.

Now that all might work for Mike Powell’s character, but what about Jessica Lawrence’s character

And of course if the workers are real in Mike’s world then The strippers are real in Jessica.  That is the boldness of Daniel.

Daniel talked about shooting during a snow storm.

A really interesting thing to find out is that Ben Harper was first introduced to Daniel via the video Gay Freestyle.  Here is what Daniel has to say about that funny note.

Ok how about just watching the video!!

And now its time to talk about an old Syracuse buddy that would make GOLD or rather Platinum!

and here’s that awesome video.

Riki “Garfunkel” Lindhome and Kate “Oates” Micucci’s official video for This Party Took a Turn for the Douche. Directed by Daniel Stessen. Featuring Sarah Silverman, Tig Notaro, Alia Shawkat, Har Mar Superstar, Diora Baird, Johnny Pemberton, Josh Fadem, Duncan Trussel, Dougg Pound, Ashley Lendzion & Greg Murnion.

Did you notice the giant douches?

Yeah can’t really top Platinum Douches.  Show your love to Director Daniel Stessen, he’s now in Austin!!
