Between Heaven and Hell

15 11 2010

A man coping with the reality of losing his wife is thrust into a world of darkness after witnessing a murder.

Marvin Faulkner lost his wife to breast cancer in 1996 and was left to raise his three children, all under the age of 10.  Marvin put his lucrative medical career on hold to create a script inspired by his tragic loss.  PSD took part in round-table, courtesy of Kelly Kitchens, in which cast and crew discussed the powerful film.

The director Jason Ward’s chance encounter with Marvin’s daughter Ali Faulkner, Paige White, leads to an interesting project.

The music video, Eternity, is part of the DVD’s extras.  One day discussing what to do with the music video, a suggestion by Marvin to Jason completely change both men’s lives.

Marvin talks about how him and Jason decided to start figuring out the script.

Marvin explains why he needed to play the lead in the film.

Marvin explains how the other acting choices made up for his inexperience.

Marvin was a golden gloves champion and his son followed in his footsteps.

Its interesting though that on-top of all their boxing history, it was member of that strong supporting cast that would find the boxing ring used in the film.  Veteran actor Dennis O’Neill’s boxing buddy allowed for his gym to be the location of  the sparring scenes.

It would take another chance encounter to help the film get through post production correctly and skillfully.

Jason talks about how the Mansfield Police Department allowed for the crew to take over.

Speaking of Mansfield, Johnn Hudson (Editor) tells  you where you can find the film and the release date.

On top of a wonderful film, the soundtrack is utterly incredible and a real gem.  The music of Johnny Cash, Bruce Springsteen, Kris Kristopherson and Leonard Cohen grace the soundtrack that was scored by Jason Ward, himself.

The DVD is released tomorrow, November 16th.  For more information click here.

Its a wonderfully powerful film loaded with great performances.  Director Jason Ward, Writer/Actor Marvin Faulkner and Editor Johnn Hudson have crafted a gripping tale filled with mystery and twists before bringing the film full circle.  Have to shout out to Andrew Sensenig for another captivating supporting role, this time as Jim McGill.  And as usual Kelly did a great job arranging another awesome round-table.
