Texas Book Festival – Noah Feldman

With this week being election time I thought it would be most fitting to talk about author Noah Feldman’s new book.

Scorpions: The Battles and Triumphs of FDR’s Great Supreme Court Justices by Noah Feldman is about the Supreme Court Justices that helped shape our country’s legal system.  Noah spoke at the 15th annual Texas Book Festival and is a highly regarded authority on the judicial branch of our government.

Noah introduces his book.

FDR the longest tenured president ever, the reason why we have presidential term limits, was of course the one man that would appoint the 4 justices Noah is talking about.  Noah begins our journey, into the foursome that would change our theory on law, with Mr. Frankfurter.

But our little Jewish buddy Felix wouldn’t keep his head down, because he would take up a case no one else wanted.

So how does the country’s leading liberal mind become the forerunner for the conservative movement into the Judicial branch.

Noah now talks about Mr. Black.

Hugo kept quite busy as a member of the senate.

So how did these telegrams help Black become one of our most famous Chief Justices?

That pesky Ku Klux Klan history popped up pretty quickly.

Past all the racist history of Hugo, he did accomplish some major feats.

And now lets meet Robert Jackson.

But what made Robert so famous and influential was that he joined a very close-nit group of FDR’S.

And now the fourth justice.
