Alicja Bachleda plays the mysterious ONDINE, the newest film from writer/director Neil Jordan.  The famous Irishman has brought to life a mythological tale with his heart-wrenching and heart-warming small town film.  On the film Neil brought along his favorite Editor Tony Lawson and Susie Figgis who was the lead on casting the film.  These familiars have been working with Neil pretty much his entire career.  ONDINE does mark the first time that cinematographer Christopher Doyle has worked with the Neil.  Doyle has established himself as one of the top DP’s around with his work on RABBIT PROOF FENCE and a slew of Asian films, which is the where the Australian DP learned his talents with the camera.  The film is beautifully shot and carries Neil’s whimsical feel to the pacing of the movie.

One day COLIN FARRELL’s character Syraceuse “catches” ONDINE in his fishing net and she begs him to keep her hidden from anyone outside of him.  We see the journey of ONDINE as she grows accustomed to her foreign environment. We fall in love with Circus’, nickname of Syraceuse giving to him by the townsfolk for his drunken past, lovely daughter Annie played by first-time actress Alison Barry.  Annie has failing kidney’s and is on dialysis when we meet the adorable little girl.  Its through her imagination and inquisitive nature we come to believe ONDINE is magical creature who brings luck to Circus and Annie.  The love story of Syraceuse and Ondine carries most of the plot and the mysterious twist of the film.

Collin and Alicja.

The lovely 26 year old actress who plays Ondine was in Dallas for the USA Film Festival screening of the film on Friday night.  The young Polish actress was born in Mexico, but returned to her parents homeland when she was still young.  Hold up Polish girl who was born in Mexico?   Alicja explains all about her journey.

Yeah I know – She’s really that awesome.

Alicja talks about her experience shooting in a new location like Ireland.

How exactly did she get noticed by the great Irish writer/director.

Now in the film Alicja appears to be an amazing swimmer with incredible ability to hold her breath, so did she do her own swimming?

Alicja explains what its like on a Neil Jordan film.

Yes Alicja did tell us that THE CRYING GAME’s Neil Jordan puts you into a game = genius.

Alicja also talked about how its like to work for Christopher Doyle.

Christopher Doyle.

Part of the mythology of the story is the beautiful singing that ONDINE does throughout the film.  So did she do that lovely singing herself and whom was she singing?

Alicja gives a glimpse on how shooting on and in the water was a task.

Alicja talks a bit more about the water sequences of the film.

And of course leave it up to me to get the amazingly beautiful actress to talk about Alicja’s fun time while shooting.

But we hounded Alicja with one question in particular – WHAT’S IT LIKE WORKING WITH COLLIN?!?!?
