The “Third Coast” that Dallas has tried to hold on to the past few decades is embodied in the It Came From Dallas show. The annual show looks back at the TV shows, films, commercials, animated projects and anything entertainment related that was shot in or around North Texas, over the last century. This year the Dallas Producers Association has expanded the show a bit further and we’d like to let you in on all the updated elements to ICFD The Magnificent 7th!!
When I was planning the perfect Valentine’s Day for my girlfriend, I didn’t go with the usual chocolates, roses and overpriced “fine” dining experience. Instead I took my former dancer to a musical. Well not just any musical, but BRING IT ON at the DSM. I was a bit skeptical of how they’d translate the underrated film into a staged production, but my doubts and fears were completely assuaged. Bring It On The Musical kicks total ass and you should venture on down to fair park by February 26th. Millennium Entertainment’s Rampart stars Woody Harrelson in one of his darkest roles since Natural Born Killers . The ironic side is this time he’s a cop. The 12th Annual Equity & Diversity Conference was held at the University of North Texas on February 7th, 2012. One of the keynote speakers was columnist and LGBT activist Dan Savage. Click thru for more info on the conference and a video with portions of Dan’s speech to a packed house.
The Nasher Sculpture Center has moved the Tony Cragg exhibit out and moved in Elliott Hundley’s The Bacchae exhibit. The theatrical and unique exhibit runs thru April 22nd in the Nasher’s main gallery hall. The Dallas Theater Center’s GIANT, the epic feeling play, leads off our calender for February. A play that highlights more then just 27 years in West Texas but showcases a “country’s” growth into the modern world.
